Welcome to HistoryForge, an interactive history education product that lets you play through pivotal historical moments, making decisions as historical leaders, citizens and witnesses, and seeing how your choices compare with what really happened. These Terms cover the HistoryForge website and our iPhone app, Augur (listed on the App Store as "Augur: History in 5 Minutes"). In these Terms, "HistoryForge" means both. By downloading or using our app or website, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms and Conditions.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using HistoryForge, you agree to these Terms and Conditions and any additional terms applicable to certain features or services. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the app immediately.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use HistoryForge. By using the app, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
3. Accounts
The Augur app has no accounts: no email or password is required, and your progress is stored on your device. On the website you can play without an account, or create an optional account to save stories across devices.
4. Use of the App
HistoryForge is designed to provide interactive historical scenarios, branching decision gameplay, and educational historical content. You agree to use the app responsibly and in accordance with these Terms. You may not:
- Use the app for unlawful purposes or activities.
- Disrupt or interfere with the app's functionality.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer or exploit the app's software.
- Use content from the app to harass, defame, or harm others.
5. Educational Content
HistoryForge scenarios are researched and written from primary and secondary historical sources. Content is dramatized for interactive play and is intended as an educational and entertainment experience, not as a primary academic source. When you make a choice the real people did not, the outcome shown is invented. Illustrations, narration and films are produced with the help of AI tools. Some scenarios depict historical violence, war, religious conflict, plague, or moral dilemmas; these are presented in their historical context for educational purposes.
6. Paid Subscriptions (Augur app)
Augur offers auto-renewing subscriptions (weekly and annual) that unlock every era and chapter. By purchasing a subscription, you agree that:
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The price is shown in the app before you buy.
- The subscription renews automatically at the same price and for the same period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your iPhone's Settings, under your Apple ID, then Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues until the end of the period you have paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its applicable policies.

7. Privacy and Data
We are committed to protecting your privacy. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how your data is collected, used, and stored. By using the app, you consent to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.
8. Intellectual Property
All content, trademarks, scenario narratives, and materials provided through HistoryForge are the property of Metellus Productions LLC or licensed to us. Scenario content is created for your personal use. You may not reproduce, distribute, or modify app content for commercial purposes without prior permission.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
HistoryForge is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We do not guarantee the app will be free of errors, interruptions, or security vulnerabilities. Educational content is provided for entertainment and self-reflection and should not be relied upon for professional or academic decisions.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, HistoryForge and its creators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use the app.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions periodically. Continued use of the app after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
12. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to HistoryForge at our sole discretion, without prior notice, for violation of these Terms or any applicable laws.
13. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States.
